Vegas tales
Back to Boston after an interesting trip to Vegas.
We drove to the Grand Canyon on my last day in Vegas, which was last Saturday. The canyon is beautiful – an amazing work of nature. On the way we got off the highway to get some gas. We stop at a gas station and while we are talking before filling in, a cop comes up.
He asks for papers etc., and is looking through them when my friend(who was driving) asks: What’s the problem, officer?
Officer: The reason I stopped you is I noticed you braked particularly hard(me wondering if braking hard is an offence). And you braked when you saw me. And you were going at 53(aha), far above the limit.
Friend: Sorry about that.
Officer: Would it be good enough to stop you from speeding if I gave you a written warning, without fining you?
Friend: uhh,.. of course. Sorry about that.
Other friend(laughing): Sure, sure.
Officer: I also checked your drivers license which supposedly expires in 2009, but the computer says it expired in 1999. I however think it expires in 2009, and this must be a computer glitch.(MIT didn’t make the DMV system, did it?
)
After the officer leaves, me: Hey, did you stop because the cop signalled you to?
Friend: No man. I just stopped for gas
